Juno Update

I took some pictures of Juno a few weeks ago and wanted to share them all with you: 

Me feeding her just before bed time, Anna is breast feeding but Juno has one bottle of baby milk before bed as this fills her up more and she sleeps a little longer. Also Billy normally gives Juno the last feed as Anna tries to get in a few solid hours before the early am feed. I love having her hold my finger like that! 

Asleep on Mummy! Doesn't she have the most beautiful face! 

Knitting Update

Back in March 2012 I made a start on this Contract Edge Cardigan. I had finished all the knitting for it and just needed to sew it up. I hate sewing up! its my biggest pet peeve. Needless to say this sat unfinished in my room for months! I had a little urge a few weeks back to get some WIP's finished or Frog some items that I knew I would never finish and this was top of my list to complete. As you can see it actually came out pretty good! Its age 6-12 months which is a new age range for me to be working with as I love making newborn stuff. 

During my clear up of old projects I came across a lot of small balls of DK that I put altogether in a bag. I was planning on doing another one of my scrappy granny blankets with it but decided to put the yarn to better use. I came across this Prem Baby Hat pattern on Ravelry. I carried out a pattern search for hat/free/dk/in the round and this came up. I fell in love with them and decided that this was what my scraps were destined for. 

I finished the 1st 3 over the first weekend in February and the 4th one was completed 11.02.13. One of the Brit room mates' girlfriend is in her last year of Midwife training and has a Special Care Baby Unit at her hospital so I am passing all the hats on to her. I will carry on making these to break up the monotony of my larger projects and as they only take a couple of hours each I know that they will be hard to stay away from.

Happy Valentines Day!

Did you get to spend Valentines Day with the one you love? I hope you did, I hope you kisses, laughed, loved and shared special time with that person. I certainly did! Ollie took me out for dinner last night! It happens to be the first time I have ever been out for Valentines day! We both dressed up smart and had a lovely meal. I also got spoilt with these: 

He really did spoil me! I love it when he surprises me. I finished work early yesterday and he pick me up from the office with these amazing roses! I'm such a luck girl! 

I hope you were all made to feel special too! 

Yummy Yarn

 As you can see below I have been naughty and brought new yarn! Ollie and I were wandering around Wycombe and I was browsing in the charity shops - I love charity shops, you never know quiet what you will find there. There is one specific charity shop there that I adore its called the "South Bucks Hospice Shop" and they sell a whole range of Cygnet yarn! I have purchased from there before and I love cygnet line that they stock - the price is pretty good too! 

During my last visit the yarn below caught my eye! Isn't it beautiful? 

 Colours are clockwise: Blossom Stripe, Candy Stripe, Violet Stripe, Marine Stripe 

I have a big thing for variegated yarn at the moment. Since I made the Puerperium Cardigan in this post and then the 2nd one in this post I realised that the colour change in the yarn took the cardigan to a whole new level which I love. These 4 balls will eventually be Puerperium cardigans because the pattern and this yarn will work soooooo well together. 

I also popped into a new to me yarn shop called Lady Sew and Sew and picked up some Rico Baby Classic DK in a lovely teal colour. Im not sure what I plan on doing with this one but no doubt it will become a baby jumper/cardigan of some kind.

Baking

At the weekend I decided to do some baking. I came across a really easy recipe on the Attic 24 blog (which I love love love - Lucy is amazing!!) and had some blueberries left over so decided to make these: 

As some of you may know I share a 550 year old house with 4 guys, 2 Malaysians and 2 Brits and Malaysian guy no 2 loves to bake! Being as Sunday was Chinese new year and he was going to celebrate with friends he ended up baking all day long on Saturday and I had to squeeze my muffins in between his trays! Unfortunately he decided to turn the heat down so my muffins didn't raise as much as I would have liked and they ended up looking a bit pale! Despite all that they were delicious and my work colleagues helped me finish them off yesterday.  

More Knitting

I've finished more knitting! I was asked to knit a larger size of the Puerperium Cardigan that I made for Juno. This time the Cardigan was for Juno's Cousin Isabelle. Isabelle is just over a year old and she is such a cutie, she is already walking and is the most dexterous child I have ever met. plus she is always head to toe in pink! Hence the Pink cardigan! 

 had brought some cute baby pink pearly star buttons that turned out to be too big so I ended up having a last minute dash to Lady Sew and Sew's in Marlow and spied these beauties! Glittery Pink buttons! They fit perfect and I feel they broke up the shade of pink used and added a little something extra to the finished piece. The yarn used was Sirdar Snuggles (i think - I was given the yarn) 

This is a Pin-wheel blanket that I challenged myself to make! Now that I have mastered knitting in the round I wanted to make something a bit more demanding. I really enjoyed making this and you can add sleeves to it to make a cute cardigan. I'm defiantly going to give that a try. This was made using Snuggly Crofter Baby Fair Isle Effect DK and I love the way the colours worked out! 

And finally I made a Vertebrae cardigan for Juno. This design is specifically for keeping babies back warm so if they sleep on their front or fall asleep on your chest you can keep arms, backs and bums toasty warm. O really enjoyed making this one except the the picking up for the rib - always a tedious chore. This one is made with James C Brett Magi-Knit Baby DK  and I love the stripe effect with this one. 

I'm currently trying to finish a lace edge baby cardigan and some crocheted cushion covers, plus I'm knitting up a load of prem baby hats with the small amounts of baby DK I have left over - Ill post some pictures soon. 

Bye bye Mr Mylepuss

You may remember me mentioning before that I have been looking after Sue's cat? Well Its not really Sue's cat he belongs to her daughter Clare but lives in Sue's house.  Myles is a very sweet, cat who loves to be stroked under the chin and brushed. 

A few months ago Myles started to get a lump on his right shoulder and it just kept getting bigger and bigger, after numerous trips to the vets, tests and pills the lump still grew. Sue and Clare had decided right after the first vet visit that as long as he wasn't suffering or in pain then they would just give him the pills and look after him. The lump became very very large and he was having trouble walking. Clare booked him into the vets on the Tuesday. I popped round on the Saturday to see him and took these pictures of him: 

He didn't come home from the vets on the Tuesday. He is sorely missed but he was 14 years old and had a very good life with Sue, Clare, Graham and Stefan.
