A wickedy woo weekend! (Thursday & Friday)

Well im back! Monkey Man and I had a great time! every time we go to Wales we are more and more determined that we want to live there and this time was no exception.

I went along to knitting group on the Tuesday and got given some lovely birthday cards and FailingAngel gave me this:

Needless to say i LOVE it!

We got up at 3am on Thursday morning and hit the road at 3.40am. We went the long way round to Wales on the A40 and through the Brecons:





We got in and unloaded the car. Brushed our teeth and Monkey was eager to get his feet wet so we drove down to Freshwater East (a great spot for surfing). Monkey man got a little over excited and ended up running through the sea like a 5 year old - as you can imagine my heart swelled!





When we got home we crashed for a few hours and then picked Pops up from the hospital (hed had spinal decompression surgery) Monkey went back to bed and i stayed up to see the rest of the family when they came to visit.

On Friday we headed to Tenby with the intention of picking up the some of the worlds most amazing chocolate from the Caldy island shop! The choc is hand made by the monks who live on Caldy! I also treated myself to a new rosary for my collection. After the shop we loaded our goodies into the car and hit the beach:



(I love the fact that the houses there have gardens cut into the rock face and their own private access to the beach)

As the sea went out we took the opportunity to check out the island in the above photo and we found a secret little beach:





We saw a load of people getting a onto a boat and i wanted to know where it was going so as we approached i saw a sign saying "Caldy Island" and on impulse paid for Monkey and I to go over! It only cost us £11 each and there was a boat leaving the island every 20 minutes. We borded the boat and headed over to the Island!







When we got to the Island we were met with this:

The watchtower is now a little chapel:





You walk about 400m from the Calvery up to the village and all thats there is a tea room, a gift shop, a post office/museum and a perfumary. Plus this:




Women arent allowed in there and Monkey didnt want to tour on his own so he passed up on walking around inside.

We carried on up through the village and headed to the chocolate factory and fudgery and came across the some old buildings:





We carried on and ended up in St Illiads Church:






After visiting the chocolate factory we headed to the other side of the island. From this side of the Island you can see the iland of Lundy (which we saw) and on a really clear day - The isle of Wight, heres the view we saw:





We headed back to the village to see some of the other churches there but we saw a monk entering one of them and knowing women arent allowed to go into the monesty i didnt want to enter and make him uncomfortable so headed back to the beach to get our feet wet:







We headed back to the mainland and went home for some rest - both of us a little too pink because we hadnt taken sunscreen! Tims head was a little on the red side as were my shoulders and chest!



I will post more about the rest of the weekend but this one has turned out a bit too long. LOL
